1915: Two Obituaries of Sifo (Shifu)

Photos courtesy of the Chinese Anarchist Front .   This notice first appeared in the Esperanto language journal La Ondo de Esperanto (The Esperanto Wave) in July 1915 and can be viewed online here .  Shifu was an influential Chinese pioneer of Anarchism. He changed his name on several occasions and was known as Shifu at the end of his life, though in English he's remembered under the name Liu Shifu. He was also an active Esperantist and used the pen name Sifo for Esperanto writings. I translated a short biography of his life earlier, which may help explain some points.  Sifo Shifu (Liu Shifu) the editor of the Esperanto and Chinese language weekly newspaper The Voice of the People, died in Shanghai from tuberculosis. Great Lives - Louise Michel

  This from a radio program that runs on the BBC called Great Lives, essentially a series of audio biographies on people chosen by the guests. This episode on the life of Louise Michel was chosen by Paul Mason, this was in 2013 before he reminded us all that he is firmly a social democrat.   SIFO - Liu Shifu - (ĉine 劉師復) (1884-1915), estis ĉino, verkisto kaj la unua anarkiisto en Ĉinio. Li naskiĝis en 1884 en Kantono (Ĉinio), kaj mortis pro malriĉeco, neflegita dum la malsano la 27-an de marto 1915 en Ŝanhajo. De sia junaĝo li partoprenis politikan revolucion por renversi la Manchu-dinastion. Bombatencis Manchu admiralon en Kantono, 1907; malsukcesis; perdis sian maldekstran brakon; en malliberejo dum 3 jaroj. Multe verkis.
