Shortly after the Islamic Republic of Iran launched a missile attack on two military bases in Iraq being used by the US military it became known that a civilian airplane had crashed outside Tehran, resulting in the deaths of all crew and passengers. Initially the government denied rumours that its military had shot down the plane but has since confirmed that it did so by accident. The news has spurred on multiple protests throughout the country with many reports and clips circulating around Persian language news sites and social media. A friend( @dogwhobites ) has been collecting several clips and translating the chants into English. Frank Cerdervall – Keynote Speech, IWW Convention 1972 September 7th A man came into the IWW. And he began to interrogate the fellow worker. That’s why the employing class has hated the IWW. And that’s why you young men and women in this organisation coming up, some of you may have been tempted by this Socialist Workers Party and these are the people who give you suave, intelligent, well educated people with five or six PHD degrees to lead you out of the wilderness. The Testament of Fighting Poland - Warsaw 44 and Beyond

Image
August is the anniversary of the uprising of Warsaw in 1944, not to be confused with the uprising of the Warsaw ghetto a year earlier. It was the largest military operation carried out by a partisan movement during World War II. The fighting lasted until the 2nd of October, when the German military managed to recapture the city. Controversially, during the fighting the Soviet army had already penetrated Polish territory and its forward units had managed to push to city limits. But the army offered no assistance and simply held its position and just let the fighting take its course. Well with the exception of Polish soldiers fighting under the Soviet army, they did take part but they had no support from air or land. In the end the only support the Polish partisans fighting as part of the Polish Underground State got was from the British and American air forces which carried out several supply drops. Despite surrendering, the Polish Underground remained active though in r...

Discussion and analysis with a member of the KAPD on the party and its activity. Workers Councils in the German Revolution Introduction The Kommunistische Arbeiter Party Deutschland (KAPD) originated in a split in the German Communist Party at the second congress in Heidelberg in October 1919. The majority of the Communist party were expelled for their opposition to parliamentary and Trade Union activity, and founded a new party the KAPD. The interview below is with a founder member of the KAPD, who was active in the German revolution, and is part of the material we plan to us in the [unreadable] a pamphlet on the struggles for WORKERS COUNCILS in the German revolution. The relevance of the struggle in Germany in 1918-23 has been heightened by the rise of SDS and the recent wave of unofficial strikes in the coal, steel and ship building industries. As in France and Italy the question of workers councils is now being debated. AN ACTIVIST S...
